But, Wagner couldn't hold them down, gave up 2 runs in another shaky outing, and the game ended as many of us expected. With a loss. And not only a loss, but a sweep to the lowly Nats, who, would have the best offense in baseball if they played the Mets every day.
There doesn't seem to be any fix to this bullpen and when Shoe-in-face is your best option you know you've hit rock bottom. El Duque looked ok last night. Pedro goes tonight and while he has been solid since his return I fear that it will be all for not if he can't take a 6 run lead into the 9th. I wish I was exagerating but I'm not. Even with a 6 run lead and wags on the mound I would still put my confidence level at around a 5 out of 10.
