Amidst the baseball, a Stadium tour

The Cat pondered a lot of different topics for this week, and finally settled on the road trip. Where would you go to see your team play, or any team for that matter? What are the top stadiums? How much does Giants stadium suck in comparison?

So here goes – a list of a few, why I was there and what I have to say.

Gillette Field – New England Patriots -

Event attended – The Kenny Chesney Flip Flop tour. Summer 2007

Pros – EVERYTHING. This place was phenomenal. What a gorgeous facility. We were in a suite with leather chairs and food and air conditioning. I could only imagine catching a football game here. Bonus points for a great nickname – The Razor.

Cons – The traffic. One way in, one way out. It took us 50 minutes to get out of the lot.

Heinze Field – Pittsburgh Steelers Event Attended – Jets Steelers game. Fall 2001

Pros – Permanti Brothers – look them up if you are ever in Pitt. They put fries and cole slaw on 4 different sandwiches(roast beef, turkey, tuna or grilled chicken). Just brilliant. Also, when home team is in the Red Zone, the ketchup bottle on top of the scoreboard turns on its side and fills the scoreboard up in red. Pretty cool to see. Walking distance to downtown Pittsburgh for hotel access.

Cons – umm, your in Pittsburgh and the strip clubs suck. Dancers do table dances, not lap dances. I know its not about the stadium, but its important to know.

Reliant Stadium – Houston Texans. Event Attended – Texans Giants game. Fall 2002.

Pros – Carpeted club level. Luxury boxes 15 rows from the field. Sports bars in every corner. TV’s every where. State of the art is an understatement. Just Gorgeous. Additionally, the best looking cheerleaders, www.houstontexans.com/cheerleaders/2007Squad.asp

Cons – the giants lost the game to an expansion team 16-14 on a last second kick by kris brown. I have nothing more to add here.

Jacksonville Municapal Stadium – Jacksonvilel Jaguars – formerly Alltel stadium Event attended – Super Bowl – XXXIX – Pats vs Eagles

Pros – hmmm – hosts the annual World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail party(Georgia-Florida). That’s it. I hated everything about it. Granted we sat up stairs and not in club seats, but it was just weird.

Cons – The stadium doesn’t connect on the top. So to go from one side to the other, you have to go down to the lower level and then back up. – Yuck

University of Phoenix Stadium – Arizona Cardinals Event attended – BCS Championship game – Gators/Buckeyes

Pros – WOW – WOW – WOW. The epitome of what a stadium should look and feel like. We sat 6 rows from the top and the view was perfect. Retractable roof. Field turf. Air conditioned. Perfect. Attached to an outdoor mall. Where there are bars and music playing.

Cons – I can’t think of one. I will look for one at next years Super bowl.

So there you have it. Feel free to add on and let me know where you have been.

Looking forward to the LINC(eagles), and I would love to get to Invesco field(Bronco’s)
